Primary P.E. and Sport Premium Funding
The Primary P.E. and Sport Premium (often just called Sports Premium) is a funding initiative from the UK government designed to improve physical education and sport in primary schools. The funding amount schools receive is based upon the number of children of primary age on roll at the school. Money allocated from the funding must meet at least one of these requirements:
- Increasing confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching P.E. and sporting activities prioritising CPD and training where needed.
- Increasing engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity and sporting activities.
- Raising the profile of P.E. and sport across the school, to support whole school improvement.
- Offer a broader and more equal experience of a range of sports and physical activities to all pupils and ensure equal access to sport for boys and girls.
- Increasing participation in competitive sport.
At Mount Pleasant Primary School, we are committed to providing high quality P.E. and sport to all of our children. We also recognise the impact that physical activity has on children’s health, self-esteem and their ability and desire to learn.
